"Learned Italian Yeats". Notes towards a Periodization of Yeats's Italian Rezeptionsgeschichte

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

As far as Yeats’s Italian reception is concerned, no serious attempt has been made to go beyond some scattered and impressionistic critical annotations, most of which have dealt with the period after World War II in a very approximate way and without raising the question of affairs in the preceding decades. This essay intends to focus its analysis of Yeats’s Italian reception history in particular on the period before World War II, in which many of the succeeding phases of Yeats’s Italian Rezeptionsgeschichte obviously had their origin.
