Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] After a brief overview of the rediscovery of the problem of the symbolic that occurred in the first half of the twentieth century (§1), this article first proposes to clarify what would be the appropriate perspective to question this irreducible dimension of the being human (§2), finding it in a philosophy of culture, in the sense of a philosophy that chooses to question the human being from the outside; he then tries to circumscribe the domain of the symbol in relation to domains which are close to it, and in particular that of the sign (§3). Finally, it proposes to evaluate not only the scope of this "rediscovery" of the symbol, but also its consequences on philosophy itself (§4).
