Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The chapter presents some evolutionary challenges to which migrant parents and minors are called, who are confronted with a multicultural social context, in which their belonging is often a minority; challenges whose outcome allows reaching more or less adequate forms of adaptation and which naturally undergo modulations - also relevant ones - depending on the changes in meaning attributed to the situations, the different coping strategies used and the different tolerance to stress deriving from the processes of acculturation. A first challenge posed by multicultural societies, which involves migrant parents firsthand, is that of childcare and care processes. A further challenge, presented in the text, is that represented by the process of defining identity by minors with a migratory background, which has as its final objective that of maintaining that unity of the Self even in the different traditions and traditions in which they find themselves to live, unity absolutely necessary for their well-being and development.
