Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] If the slowdown in the growth of the livestock PDB that had characterized 2012 had been seen as a signal worthy of attention, the sharp fall of 2013 confirms the state of extreme difficulty that the regional zootechnical system is going through. The two main meat sectors (by weight of the animals, even if not by importance in the regional zootechnical panorama) are in fact united by a quantitative regression that is certainly not new, repeating itself since 2011 for the cattle and since 2012 for the pigs, which have just been mitigated by almost zero price dynamics in the case of beef cattle, and able to offset about a quarter of the quantitative loss in the case of pigs. The poultry sector was also affected by a decline in production for meat and much higher for eggs, while prices have progressed fairly consistently. Overall, the salable quantity of milk produced in Emilia-Romagna showed a modest decline in 2013, but which follows a decidedly expansive trend that characterized 2011 and 2012. In recent years then, the destination in Parmigiano Reggiano, which absorbs 85% of regional milk, has grown more than the total so that the quantity of cheese in five years has marked + 14.9%.
