[Autom. eng. transl.] An important documentation tool used here is constituted by the infracensual (sample) survey on the structure and production of farms for 2007, which follows that made available two years ago for 2005. From this survey comes a panorama with lights and shadows for regional animal husbandry, where alongside sectors in luxuriant growth appear more problematic realities and even some sectors frankly in difficulty. A first indicator is provided by the number of heads on the farm, which contracts for most of the sectors, albeit with different entity from case to case: between the 2000 census and the 2007 survey, the sheep and goats reared in the region will pigs are reduced by 13%, by 9%, cattle by 4.5%, while minor forms of farming such as rabbits and ostriches seem to be in clear crisis. On the other hand, above all the poultry sector, which has now become the most representative of the Emilia-Romagna region at national level (while this role belonged to the pig sector until a few years ago) and the equine sector, for which finds in Emilia Romagna almost a tenth of the 37-38 thousand national breeding companies.
