Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In 2020 the production at basic prices of Lombard livestock has recovered, with a growth of 8.5%, part of the collapse suffered the previous year, returning to values close to those of 2016. The increase it was about one percentage point higher than that marked by vegetable production, which in 2019 had suffered a decrease equal to less than half compared to animal husbandry.
On the other hand, unfortunately, in continuity with what happened in 2019, the value produced by the beef sector, where the decline of 11% in 2019 was followed by a further -5% in 2020; as in the previous year, this is a contraction essentially attributable to the unfavorable price trend, further confirming the illusory recovery that in 2017 and 2018 had interrupted a steadily decreasing trend in beef PDB. However, the strongest decline among the major sectors is observed in the pig sector, which falls by 14%: this is the third consecutive reduction, and the largest in the three-year period, which is made up in almost equal parts of a quantity effect. and a price effect.
On the contrary, regional dairy farming has partially raised its head, after the blow of the previous year, even if in evaluating the extent of the recovery, one must not be fooled by the game of the bases of reference for the percentages: if apparently the + 20% of 2020 covers a large part of the -24% of 2019, in reality in absolute terms the gain of the last year corresponds to just 64% of the previous loss.
