Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In the contemporary era, the consumption of psychotropic substances has undergone a transformation process that concerns both patterns of use and profiles of consumers. Today the use of drugs and alcohol takes on more and more purposes that we could define as performative, even if in the different functions that can be included, such as, for example, increase sociality, resistance, energy, creativity, pleasure. While in the past it was mainly the marginalized subjects who were involved in consumer practices, today the use is transversal with respect to the socio-demographic variables such as age, gender and social class. After an excursus on the main European trends and on the sociological matrix approaches on the subject, the volume presents an intervention model aimed at controlling demand through three phases: prevention, understood as anticipation of consumer practices; management, that is the intervention aimed at those who consume substances through recreational patterns of use and aimed at moderation; recovery, aimed at those who have developed a drug addiction. For each step, we describe the state of the art regarding European policies. In the conclusions, some considerations are outlined concerning the possible future developments of the interventions on the subject.
