Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Europe has known the study and teaching of the Arabic language since the Middle Ages, when this was the language of civilization, science and philosophy. The study method adopted at that time - and still today - is known as the method of grammar and translation. Today, however, faced with the complexity of the contemporary world, and with the expansion and branching of the relations that bind Europe to the Arab countries, the student needs something more besides understanding the content of ancient texts. In the context of a 'revolution' of communication and globalization, communication skills are at the center of the student's interest and constitute a necessary requirement for the realization of any profession that has to do with the world of today's Arabic language. The Arabic fuscha a- has undergone a great evolution, so much so that linguists, today, distinguish between a classical Arab and a Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), influenced, that is, by contemporary reality and by the terminology that accompanies it, difficult to find in classical dictionaries. In this text - and in the other volumes of the series - it is intended to present precisely this contemporary Arabic language: the language of economics, politics, information and culture. The book benefits from the great evolution that has taken place in the field of linguistics and the sciences related to it, making use of the most modern methodology developed in the context of a new specialized discipline which, in most Italian universities, has not yet penetrated: teaching of Arabic as a foreign language (TAFL, Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language).
