Abstract

The roots of banquets go back to the archaic Greek age, the mythical world which originated the Western civilization. After a short presentation of the ancient convivial situations (which always came with a symposium), the A. briefly argues how banquets and libations are closely connected with the Dionysian religious rituality of the theatrical domain. The religious dimension of banquets and symposia is related also to the eschatological theme.
