Abstract
Since the late 90s the topic of "diversity in the workplace" has developed as an object of interest in academic research as well as in the management world and among institutional actors. The chapter explores social differences in human resources that nowadays characterize organizations (from gender to age and from ethnic and national origin to the professional background), focusing in particular on some core and emerging issues such as the links between diversity management and equal employment opportunities and the types of organizational practices aimed at promoting the valorization of diversity
