Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Urban terrorism seems to be one of the most complex challenges to face for national security. New York, Madrid and London remain impressed in our memory as great western cities recently subject to terrorist attacks and the media scene of recent decades now presents us with images of metropolises "at risk" every day. This volume aims to analyze the phenomenon in terms of concrete threat and possible response from both citizens and competent authorities. The authors, through approaches ranging from sociology to psychology, from crisis management to criminology, question the practices learned and the forms assumed by Islamic terrorism. Outlining the threats to contemporary urban agglomerations, the contributions offer insights that, in addition to being part of the academic debate, define new strategic approaches to intervention.
