Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] This Report intends to constitute an information and updating tool, which is not unique and not exhaustive, which is fueled above all by experiences and research carried out within the Cariplo Foundation for Initiatives and the Study on Multi-ethnicity. The analysis of the Italian situation is addressed in the light of the indications that derive from the literature and from the experiences matured on the international level. Alongside the persistent vagueness of the reference regulatory framework, some promising signs that come from the world of work, school, volunteering and welfare services are underlined: we observe a process of mobilization of local societies in favor of the inclusion of new comers in the multiple spheres of social life, but alongside it a widespread demand for public order and urban security, as well as the persistence of strong imbalances between the different areas of the country. The Report is organized in three thematic areas: the first, the "general framework", provides the basic data of the phenomenon; the second, the "areas of attention", allows us to understand the trends present in the crucial aspects of the migration phenomenon; the third, "emerging themes", focuses attention on particularly topical issues also at international level.
