Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] This article aims to identify the implicit theories of family and business relevant in the processes of generational coexistence in family businesses (Family Business - FB) and provide a graphical / spatial representation (Road Map - map) of these implicit theories. This map can be used to "photograph" a family business along 16 "implicit theories" from both the Senior and Junior generations that coexist within it. The map is aimed at promoting dialogue between the generations involved, especially in the delicate phase of the generational transition in the company. The map represents a useful graphic / spatial representation in the hands of consultants who want to trigger a dialogue between the generations involved in the process and which allows to make visible the functioning representations of the company that each protagonist of the passage uses. The map is in fact a visual medium that makes the distance / closeness between everyone's deep ideas about their company ostensible. The hypothesis is to encourage awareness of the implicit theories on the basis of which each actor is orienting himself in daily work. An analysis of the implicit theories of the FB that supports the dialogue and the comparison on the aspects concerning the intertwining between family and company and which favors the sharing of the representations used by the protagonists in the orientation of the strategic choices that influence the business life.
