Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] This volume aims to trace a history of art professions through the succession of Universal Exhibitions. These two stories intertwine, now overlapping, now proceeding parallel, first close together and then distancing themselves along the intricate paths dictated by the social, political and cultural events of the last two centuries. The very birth of the Universal Expositions coincides, in fact, with a period of fierce competition between the main nations of the world that develops on many levels and that contains within itself a complicated intertwining of factors. Here, craftsmanship and, above all, art professions are inextricably involved.
