Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Especially in contexts like the Italian one, characterized by the strong presence of SMEs, the search for sustainable competitive advantages is significantly based on the use of forms of inter-organizational collaboration. This article analyzes the structural and process factors of the inter-organizational networks that influence the levels of trust between the entrepreneurs belonging to the networks and which, also due to this trust, can impact on the performance of the networks themselves. In particular, three possible determinants of trust and performance are investigated: the existence and functioning of a network governance system; the passing of time, understood both as the age of the net and as a period of "gestation" prior to its birth; the size of the network, understood as the number of partner companies.
