Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The reading education project of the "Libraries for rural schools" was born in July 1909 on the Piccola Posta page of the "Corriere dei Piccoli". Both were part of Paola Carrara Lombroso's "empire" that the child readers of the Milanese weekly had begun to follow since the launch of the magazine founded on 27 December 1908. Along a complex and articulated path, the project would continue in a non-continuous way until 1954, thus characterizing much of Zia Mariù's work in her unwavering work of promoting reading among Italian childhoods who were less fortunate but capable of being educated to appreciate children's literature.
