Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

The aim of the present article is to explain and discuss the cross attentions that have to be paid in any humanitarian intervention so that the aid and rebuilding operations have a positive psycho-social impact. In addition, the suggestions and the practical recommendations of IASC, included in the broader Guidelines for psychosocial intervention in emergencies, are exposed and discussed. In the second part, we briefly review the interventions implemented in Abruzzo by the teams of Psicologi per i Popoli in 2009, in the aftermath of L’Aquila’s earthquake. This account allows to highlight how the IASC guidelines can be useful in order to review and improve the complex operative experience carried out in emergency settings, paying attention to the psychosocial implications of the systemic and organizational actions in emergency.
