Abstract
The last European Values Study (EVS) – started since 1981 and arrived in 2009 to its fourth wave – shows that Italians have positive attitudes toward work, social solidarity and participation. On the contrary, they have diffuse distrust toward public institutions, considered far from citizens and inefficient; this two attitudes have problematic consequences for the development of long terms collective projects, that are necessary for escape from economic and social contemporary crisis
