Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The Orim surveys of recent years confirm the determination of gender-based strategies among immigrants in relation to participation in the labor market, with male employment in particular that, in erosion, went to feed the ranks of the unemployed ( a share that has risen to 19.6%) or has found a compensatory outlet for employment levels in self-employment, while females have given more to employment difficulties by taking refuge in the inactive condition (in 28.8% of cases). A condition of inactivity that is more and more going to be assuming for foreign women the contours of an "imprisonment", attracting the discouraged unemployed to their own sphere of influence, and leaving only irregular employment as the only alternative in several cases. From these dynamics the younger foreigners (under 30) are not excluded. Within this scenario, the examination of the accident trends recorded by INAIL - to which a specific in-depth study was dedicated - highlighted, with regard to the events that affected workers with migration background (born at 'abroad) in Lombardy in the 2008-2012 five-year period, the progressive decline in the number of accidents reported, proceeded hand in hand with a trend towards strengthening the number of employees, at least at an absolute level. This suggests that the frequency of events that have touched foreigners is decreasing, albeit at levels higher than those relating only to workers with Italian citizenship.
