Abstract

The general task of social workers is to accompany people who experience life problems to more prosperous conditions of well-being. A social worker can define a path of aid to support vulnerable people according to the practitioners’ expertise in making an assessment and coping people’s problems or according to a Relational approach to Social Work. The Relational Social Work provides significant operational guidance to social workers in order to recognize and strengthen the motivation of people who are moving, or who intending to move, towards a desired improvement. This article presents phases of problem solving through the analysis of a foster care project. The situation is presented by reflecting on the likely evolution that would have had the situation according to an approach centered on the practitioners’ expertise and presenting instead as it’s really evolved according to the Relational approach.
