Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The concept of work and that of voluntary work underline typical and partly opposed aspects, so that their juxtaposition generates an oxymoron, or a paradoxical message, rich however in healthy effects. Seen from the side of those who practice volunteering, the term voluntary work makes it possible to bring to light both the structural aspects of pro-social action, which are closer to the term "work", and the intentional, elective, free aspects that the voluntary activity is characterized by quality. The voluntary work makes visible, at a concrete level, the value and usefulness of the relational skills / competences learned through a free commitment in favor of practices and corporate forms oriented to mutual aid (mutual benefit) or to the production of an extended benefit ( public interest).
