Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Praised be ', the encyclical of Pope Francis on the care of the common home, promotes the relevance of pedagogical-educational paths for the governance of human development, encourages good research practices on an international and local scale. Multilateral political and economic agreements, territorial development projects require to support the formation of personal conscience, the intra and intergenerational responsibility among peoples, a firm trust in cooperation. One of the key questions of the text is the request to globalize solidarity. In the inaugural message on the occasion of the universal exposition in Milan, on May 1, 2015, the Holy Father recalled the importance of the event to understand the dramas of food, between abundance and scarcity, malnutrition and obesity. The theme of Expo, Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life, so essential not to remain just the theme of a temporary event, must be translated “into the consciousness of the faces of millions of people who are hungry today, who today will not eat in a worthy way of a human being ”. The drafting of the encyclical combines the main environmental issues, which have a global dimension and precedes the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21), a 2015 international event on the state of the common home. In the Paris symposium, nations are called to formally take a position on climate change, a global issue that sums up the substantial indifference with which international politics have treated the planet. The "consciousness of faces" implies education for planetary citizenship, in order to ensure the continuity of actions to reduce food waste and mitigate climate change, educating to solidarity.
