[Autom. eng. transl.] Conception and pregnancy initiate a silent revolution in the couple. Birth is a grandiose process of human evolution and signification which realizes an affective project. The physical, psychological and relational transformations related to pregnancy also represent a precious opportunity to redefine the existential project of the couple. The transition to parenthood requires a willingness to change and a transformation of one's roles and tasks capable of supporting that process which, while preparing the birth of the child, creates the conditions for the birth of a father and a mother. At the same time, this experience represents a "critical" moment for the couple's life. The transition to parenthood highlights the relational qualities of the parental couple, shows its strengths and weaknesses, in this sense the transition crisis becomes an "epiphany of family relationships". Both man and woman live this period as a phase of profound psychological restructuring, in which they are confronted with their personal history, with feelings and fantasies towards the child who is about to be born, with the image of himself, with your own role that changes. Becoming a parent is an important opportunity to change one's identity and to increase the quality of relationships. It is an adventure of the couple, through which it can transform and grow. The volume investigates the transformations that accompany the transition to parenthood. Becoming mothers and fathers requires a redefinition of one's individual and couple existential project.
