Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Contemporary art escapes the story, with unambiguous definitions, it prefers to allude, evoke, arouse. This is what generates difficulties in understanding. And since art has freed itself from conveying a message, from being representative, its spiritual meaning cannot be grasped in the content, but in a subjective dimension. The contribution that contemporary art can make to the Church is better understood when we consider the very reciprocity between the world and the Church invoked by the Second Vatican Council. The essay traces the main documents of the Council and some significant examples of the happy relationship between contemporary art and the Church demonstrating, as it is possible, that this encounter takes place in contemporary times.
