Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Tourism and its transformations in the years after the Second World War are at the center of a growing interest in economic history studies. In this crucial phase, fundamental steps were taken both for the acquisition of mass dimensions by this economic activity, and for the intensification of its participation in the dynamics of socio-economic development in the Western world. In 1950, in Rome, therefore in the capital of a country destined to become a leader in world tourism in the second half of the twentieth century, an ancient tradition of travel for religious purposes was renewed: the Jubilee. The present study intends to propose itself as the first reconstruction of the economic and tourist dynamics of this event and demonstrates its international dimension as well as its relevance in terms of infrastructures for the capital of Christianity.
