Abstract
A text with an open meaning, the "Aminta" cannot be reduced to a single ideological message, in that it contains a varied interpretative potential, allowing for libertine developments, which at the same time do not exclude readings of an ethical or spiritual nature. The present contribution examines the reception of the Tassian pastoral in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, highlighting the existence of two contrasting lines: a first one seeking to 'moralise' the archetype, the second one seeking to emphasize its 'transgressive' aspects. Both cases, however, give priority to one single aspect of the work and betray therefore its authentic profoundness.
