Abstract
Within the yearly Italian Report on Migrations (2012 edition) realised by the ISMU Foundation – the main Italian scientific institution on migrations and interethnic cohabitation – this chapter focuses the attention on migrants’ insertion in the Italian labour market. After providing a general picture of major European and international trends about economic migrations and their regulation in front of the economic recession, it takes into consideration the characterising features of migrant labour demand’s and supply’s, focusing the attention on the impact of the crises. Finally, it develops some concluding remarks, highlighting some "starting points" about an eventual reform of the legal framework on legal migration. The contribution is also available in the Italian version (see: “Il lavoro”, XVIII Rapporto ISMU sulle migrazioni)
