Abstract

The essay, through a selected review of iconographic sources, presents some phases of the historical-artistic and architectural transformations of the Olivetan monastery of San Nicola di Rodengo, started in the mid-fifteenth century on a previous Cluniac priory, with particular regard to the phases of abandonment and degradation resulting from the Napoleonic suppression. It is a relevant and very emblematic document which highlights, between decay and restoration, the significant changes that have taken place in the last two centuries in the Franciacorta monastery.
