Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Godson of William James, at 18 months he reads the New York Times, at 4 he learns from Greek and Latin alone, at 6 he instantly memorises every book he browses, speaks ten languages and invents a new one, the vendergood, and after having written essays on mathematics and astronomy, he presented his theory on the Fourth Dimension at Harvard at the age of eleven. Lived between New York and Boston in the first half of the 20th century, son of Ukrainian immigrants of Jewish origin, William Sidis was not only a child prodigy, but one of the most exalted minds of all time, with the highest IQ ever measured. How can such a talent, which should have contributed like no other to the progress of human knowledge, disappear without a trace in history?
