Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The author analyzes with the lenses of criminal law the disturbing charge generated by the reading of Blood Meridian. The examination of the senseless violence that imbues Cormac McCarthy's masterpiece becomes the means to investigate equally senseless acts of violence, such as the brutal soperchierie committed by agents of the State Police in the Diaz-Pertini school, during the G8 in 2001. The analysis continues with the examination of the sentences given in the Diaz case, comparing McCarthy's prose with that of the criminal judges, to verify the purposes, methods and effects of the use of the written word in the description of violence.
