[Autom. eng. transl.] What is the meaning of banking supervision in the era of financialization? How can it contribute to the crucial issue of financial stability for a globalized economy? Starting from the centrality of money and banks in modern economies, the text describes the risks of banking, the objectives and tools of supervision in its three areas (structural, prudential and protective). It also presents its historical development, its strengths, weaknesses and the link with the prevailing business models. The book devotes a chapter to the Italian case and, finally, compares the proposed theoretical framework with the frontier aspects of the financial world after the crisis, in particular the Banking Union, sustainable finance and fintech.
