Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] boys and girls who, for various reasons, start speaking late are not isolated cases, but represent a large percentage within the child population. The result of collaboration between the leading scholars and clinicians in the sector, this manual traces the stages of development of communication and language, indicating the critical periods and the educational choices that can favor its acquisition. It also provides the most effective tools for a correct diagnosis and, above all, the principles for the treatment of language disorder, whether primary or associated with any other developmental disorders. After an initial overview of the most recent theoretical developments on the nature of communication and language, the problem of Primary Language Disorder (DPL) is addressed and, subsequently, the topics of diagnosis and treatment and the various factors and contexts in which the disorders
