Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The purpose of canon law is certainly not to replace faith, grace and charisms or, even less, the charity of the faithful but to ensure, both in individual and social life and in the activity of the Church, that order without which the development of the life of faith is less easy. The Apostolic Constitution Sacrae Disciplinae Leges issued on January 25, 1983 by St. John Paul II for the promulgation of the new Code of Canon Law reaffirms it solemnly.
