Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay analyzes the first jet of tragedy, focusing in particular on the Manzonian sources and on the crucial theme of the innocence or guilt of Carmagnola. Manzoni distinguishes the historical level, where he acquires the count with a full formula, from the psychological one, attributing his disgrace to the Venetians to his rough, impulsive and non-ceremonious character. Moreover, the theological theme of 'lapsa nature' is connected to this problem.
