Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The paper proposes to investigate Petronius's use of the elements of the consolatory topic, well-established at the time (as attested by the three Senecane "Consolationes" coeval) distorted to obtain comic-grotesque effects: in particular, they are examined of the sequences taken from the "Cena Trimalchionis" (the toast and testament of Trimalchione, the talk of the freedmen) and from the novel of the Matrona of Ephesus.
