Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay reconstructs the modern history of terminology, through an appropriate network of quotations - Leopardi and Cesarotti, Leonardo and Baldinucci, Lavoisier et Bertrand - noting how the interest in the terms of arts and crafts originated in Italy, with the research of Leopoldo de 'Medici, who gathered more than nine thousand technical terms in view of the third edition of the "Vocabulary of the Academics of the Bran". However, the theoretical reflection on terminology originated in France during the eighteenth century, together with the large-scale collection of technical items. In conclusion, the contribution offers a precise analysis of the terminological actions underway in Italy.
