Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The nature of the 'special' Anglo-American bond has its own peculiarity which, contrary to what is often believed, does not arise from the sharing of the English language or from an innate feeling of brotherhood. It has its roots in the relevance that the bilateral relationship and the common interests have had for the liberal development of the international system. The relationship between London and Washington still represents, although weakened in systemic importance, a pillar of transatlantic security, above all in the fundamental role of engine of the Atlantic Alliance.
