Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Based on the complexity of the multiple profiles that the BS incorporate, this work aims to present an interpretative framework within which to insert the BS almost five years after their introduction. We will try to understand, in particular, what are the peculiarities that characterize the companies that have decided to transform themselves or set themselves up from scratch in SB by analyzing some parameters relating to company size, longevity, financial and equity structure, up to profitability. The analysis was conducted from a double perspective. Meanwhile we searched
to take a photograph that could illustrate the current profile of the SBs from a legal, geographical and accounting point of view using information extracted from the AIDA database and InfoCamere. Secondly, we carried out an empirical analysis in which we set out to investigate the possible factors that contributed to pushing companies established before 2016 to transform themselves into SBs. Through the use of Probit and Logit econometric models, we therefore tried to verify whether, and to what extent, the longevity of companies, their size, debt levels and profitability influence the transition towards a Benefit corporate form. The chapter is structured as follows. Paragraph 2.2 will provide an overview of the SBs in Italy outlining their juridical profiles, their geographical distribution in the area and showing some characteristics associated with their longevity, size and some indicators of equity and profitability. In paragraph 2.3 some comparative analyzes will be developed between the companies that have transformed into SB and other competitor companies that have not followed the same path, illustrating the main characteristics of the dataset used for the econometric analysis. In paragraph 2.4 the econometric model will be presented and the main results of the estimates made will be discussed and commented on, the details of which will be presented in the appendix to the chapter.
