Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] What does it mean to be active young citizens? And in what ways are today's young people participating in their communities? What are the reasons why a young person engages himself in his own context of belonging? What are the values that move it? These are just some of the questions that this chapter intends to answer starting from the analysis of the participation choices of young people in relation to their past and current commitment. In the chapter, the themes of participation and active citizenship in the psychological field will be presented (par. 2), the main forms of participation, voluntary work and the universal civil service (par. 3). Paragraph 4 will be devoted to the presentation of the research objectives which will be described and illustrated in paragraph 5. Paragraph 6 will present the results. Some concluding reflections will close the chapter (par. 7).
