Abstract
The article aims to illustrate the current institutional development of French regional and local authorities. Its focus is on the developments brought about by the legislation enacted under François Hollande’s presidency. In 2014, France has offered an example of a strong reformist will amidst political and institutional obstacles, even though an overall reform of local government competences and architecture has yet to be achieved.
