Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution starts from the critical analysis of the data concerning the distribution, by role and disciplinary scientific sector, of the current university staff of pedagogical area in Italy, drawing some perspective considerations in relation to the issues and challenges open for educational research. The latter are then studied in the light of a broad international scientific reflection. Particularly noteworthy are the problems of the scientific identity of educational research, with reference to the peculiarity of its relationship with practice. The effects on the validation of educational research and the directions of commitment in an epistemological and methodological perspective are also analyzed.
