Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Investing in young generations is the way to create wealth in families: this is the thesis of J. Heckman, Nobel Prize for economics in 2000, contained in this volume. In the light of this analysis, eminent scholars, economists, philosophers, educationalists, psychologists and sociologists argue that it is possible to follow this direction and what advantage can be obtained within family relationships and in the broader social context. The theoretical reflections and the empirical documentation contained in the essays presented here allow us to affirm that wealth is not only and only the possession of material goods, but rather the ability to create innovation in products and processes, generating human capital and making relations vectors of that strategic resource constituted by the social capital. A relational definition of wealth - which knows how to grasp the potential of family ties constituted by children understood as a common good indispensable to society - makes it possible to rethink the crisis of today by declining the aspects that make it possible to invest in a generative desire and also offers valuable indications for social policies that intend to operate "friendly" towards families
