[Autom. eng. transl.] In recent years, the interest in CSR initiatives by SMEs has grown considerably. The importance that CSR seems to have assumed also for SMEs has brought to the fore the issue of the factors that push these companies to be "socially responsible". In particular, the research in this field addresses two issues: on the one hand, the analysis of the characteristics of the entrepreneur and the firm-specific factors that favor the adoption of CSR policies; on the other hand, the role of actors and conditions external to the company in the development of these initiatives. It is to this second aspect that reference is made in this chapter, in which it is highlighted, also through empirical cases, how the context factors, such as belonging to a specific productive or territorial context, can act as a push for the '' adoption of CSR practices.
