Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Migration, rather than posing new or unusual challenges, amplifies the challenges at the basis of every human relationship: in this perspective, the presence in the Italian school of many pupils and families with a migratory background is representing an opportunity to rethink in a more in-depth way of efforts and misunderstandings that have always accompanied the school-family relationship, but also to seize the opportunities for change and growth. The chapter analyzes with a critical approach one of the constructs on which much of the pedagogical, sociological and psychological research concerned with the school-family relationship converges, that of parent educational involvement, which indicates "how" and "how much" parents "work" together to school and children to foster positive learning outcomes, training and academic success.
