[Autom. eng. transl.] The writing starts from the inseparable relationship between the interest for the classical problems of bioethics and the interest for the prevention of all offensive conduct of human dignity, in the whole existential arc. It reflects, in particular, on the identifying criteria of the legal good constituted by human life and on the role that its protection assumes in democratic systems. Some passages of the encyclical "Caritas in veritate" of Pope Benedict XVI are taken up and commented on, aimed at outlining some fundamental criteria of action in a manner consistent with human dignity.
