Abstract
In this monograph are presented the results of a survey on the quality of hospital services perceived by 1121 users of 31 public and private hospitals in the Lombardy region, admitted in 1996. The exposition of the results is preceded by an analysis of the concept of health and the changes taking place in the doctor-patient relationship. The paper ends with a critical analysis of the "company" model introduced in Italy in the late nineties in health facilities.
