Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The twentieth century marked the re-foundation of the theater, the rethinking of its role and the innovation of its signs and procedures in the new scenario of communication and the arts. The 'proof', research and experimentation were the dominant figure. The most fruitful indications for the renewal of the structures and techniques of the theatrical text have often been found, in recent decades, in those dramaturgical practices that free the scenic event from the mortgage of verbal writing. The performative text, served by a writing that moves freely in the plot of the other scene codes, has often also been the place of a happy bond with the history of ideas and the emergence of epochal themes around which to summon the artists and the public in the 'as if' of live representation. The wide area of the scriptures of not strictly dramatic origin, but narrative, essay, treatise, journalistic, poetic, documentary, judicial or sacred therefore constitutes the field of the analyzes presented here, conducted according to a thematic point of view as well as, first of all , dramaturgical. This is not an exhaustive overview, nor is there any claim to draw up a balance sheet in the area of writings for the scene of non-dramatic origin of the late twentieth century. It is rather a first orientation, in the belief that the irreducible complexity of the twentieth century can only be reflected in an open, fragmented, heterogeneous path. A trace within a complex scenario with respect to which all the dramaturgies examined here stand as voices that are always free and always critical. An openness to the world, a question of meaning and responsibility, never self-referential, as theater must be
