Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] This article offers a theoretical and conceptual analysis of the principles of education as a public good and a common good in light of the recent attention paid to community educational pacts. It is observed how the concept of education as a public good is being challenged by the current crisis in the role of the state and by the blurring of the boundaries between public and private. The concept of education as a common good is proposed as an alternative framework for promoting a humanistic vision of education, contrary to individualistic and utilitarian approaches. Recognizing the link that exists between education and democracy, this concept also underlines the importance of the participation of the various actors present in a given community on the basis of the principle of subsidiarity. With this in mind, the setting up of the polite pacts
of community depends on the possibility of reorganizing the educational system thanks to the rethinking of the tools and mechanisms that make it possible to promote the development and effective participation of the community.
