Abstract
IN THIS COMPARATIVE STUDY OF 40 PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY HIP OSTEOARTHRITIS, OF WHICH 20 UNDERWENT TOTAL HIP ARTHROPLASTY AND 20 RESURFACING HIP ARTHROPLASTY, WE WANTED TO ENSURE THE COEXISTENCE OF A BETTER PROPRIOCEPTIVE CONTROL AND BETTER UMUSCLE ACTIVATION OF THE M. RECTUS FEMORIS, BICEPS FEMORIS AND SEMIMEMBRANOSUS LIMB OPERATED WITH RHA THAN WITH THA. ALL IMPLANTS HAD LARGE METAL/METAL HEADS TO IMPROVE STABILITY AND RANGE OF MOTION AS WELL AS TO IMPROVE PROPRIOCEPTION. WE TOOK STABILOMETRIC TESTS AND DETECTION OF MUSCLE ACTIVATION. THE CLINICAL AND FUNCTIONAL EVALUATION WAS PERFORMED WITH HARRIS HIP SCORE (HHS). ANALYZING THE VALUES WITH THE HHS AND WITH STABILOMETRIC TESTS WERE FOUND TO BE A BETTER PROPRIOCEPTION THAT IMPROVED ACTIVE STABILITY WITH STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE IN FAVOR OF THE COATING ARTHROPLASTY.
