[Autom. eng. transl.] The emergence of the web society has accelerated the process of social change in new ways compared to the past, posing new challenges for the nursing profession in terms of the ability to respond to new health needs, a request for renewed professional skills and the need to intensify exchanges inter-professional. In a microsociological perspective, the changes affect the relationship with patients, who are increasingly informed and actively engaged in taking charge of decisions that affect their health, often through the use of new tools, such as Social Media and the Apps. From a macro-sociological point of view, the transformations concern health systems and the regulatory system that governs them. Finally, in a logic of connection, the nurse must face challenges concerning the organizational perspective (meso level), such as, for example, the changes linked to the intra and inter-professional relationship deriving from technological evolution. This book aims to describe the ongoing process not only by grasping the new framework in which the nurse acts, but by trying to provide operational and practical tools to clarify the scenario and future prospects of the nursing profession in an increasingly intercultural society, digitized and globally articulated. It is precisely in this increasingly dynamic and changing social scenario that this text is inserted. In fact, through the conceptualization of important constructs such as health and illness or theory, just to give some examples, the aim is to get the nurse practitioner into a changed society where digitization and communication are constituent parts of the same. By understanding the changing society, the nurse of today and the future can be ready for the challenges of care in multifaceted and complex scenarios. Therefore, this manual wants to underline the importance of understanding the fluid context and interpreting it not only as a source of economic concern, but also as an opportunity for work and growth in ever wider scenarios and characterized by the overcoming of national boundaries even in presence of a more widespread and different attention to the local.
